Betty June Shima

BETTY JUNE SHIMA

Betty June Shima, 92, of Polson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18 at the Mountain View Care Center in Ronan. Betty was born on March 3, 1925 in Mason City, Iowa, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Addie Bower Pearson. Betty married John Shima, Jr. on August 1, 1943 in Bremerton, Wash., and together raised three children.

For many years, Betty was a secretary for several area offices. She was a member of New Life Christian Center and volunteered at the Country Store in Polson. Among her many interests were painting, knitting and sewing, and she was an excellent cook. Betty will always be remembered for her unconditional love and kindness and being a prayer warrior for those in need.

Preceding Betty in death is her husband, John Shima, Jr., who died on October 18, 2012. She is survived by her two sons, Pat and Mike Shima; her daughter, Suzi Sandbak, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 27, 10 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Polson. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
