Polson man in deep water over Coast Guard impersonation
A Polson resident has been charged after officials confirmed he impersonated a member of the Coast Guard.
According to a press release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Ryan Lowden, 33, was charged with three felony counts of impersonating a public official.
People reported a man on a jet ski claiming to be a member of the Coast Guard, trying to either gain access or confiscate alcohol from boats, according to a Facebook post from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office earlier in August.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office detectives conducted an investigation after obtaining a search warrant at his residence.
Coast Guard clothing, similar to what witnesses have reported to authorities, was located during the search, the press release stated.
Lowden was scheduled to appear in Lake County Justice Court on Wednesday, Aug. 16 for an initial appearance.
