Polson PD able to locate suspect in crowded room
Officers with the Polson Police Department moved swiftly Wednesday evening, picking their suspect out of a crowded room.
According to Corporal George Simpson, dispatch received a call at about 6 p.m. from a woman stating that Xander Matt was at the KwaTaqNuk Resort and Casino in Polson.
She relayed that she believed he had a stolen pistol and that there was a warrant out for his arrest, Simpson said.
The reporting party has not been identified at this time.
The two officers, Becky McClintock and Keith Deetz, ran Matt’s name through dispatch and found that there were three warrants out of Ronan for burglary, bail jumping and traffic violations.
Bond totaled at $100,000, Simpson said.
Simpson did confirm that Matt is from Lake County.
The officers, after confirming the warrants, confirmed Matt’s identity through dispatch and went into the casino, where Simpson said Matt was found sitting at a casino machine by the bar.
“They handcuffed him while he was sitting there, patted him down and found the pistol” in his pocket, Simpson said.
During their investigation, the officers also found five hydrocodone pills and a couple of grams of marijuana hidden in Matt’s wallet.
Simpson said that Matt has been charged with two drug charges and three weapons charges.
“He was advertised” on the Lake County Sheriff’s Office’s social media earlier in the day, Simpson said.
An investigation is ongoing, Simpson confirmed.
