Mission Valley area volleyball teams had a dozen players acknowledged for their caliber of play this Fall. The Polson Lady Pirates and the Ronan Maidens each garnered a pair of players on the Northwest A all-conference team, the Mission Lady Bulldogs had a solo representative on the District 6B team, while the Charlo Lady Vikings placed a quartet and the Arlee Scarlets netted a trio on the District 14C postseason list.

Northwest A

Polson senior libero Kyler Lundeen was acknowledged with second-team honors for her efforts in the back row. Lundeen was so proficient at scooping out zingers before they hit the deck that should her aspirations about a future working in some aspect of the medical field fall through, an excavator operator in the heavy equipment sector of construction might be an alternative consideration. Lundeen dug out more than 500 digs this past season when postseason as well as tournament contributions are factored in. Her two preceding seasons of varsity contributions push her cumulative prep career total past the millennial (1000) mark. Her 22 aces from the service line this season coupled with preceding varsity contributions push her service ace prep career total to 50 aces. Lundeen also holds all-state credentials in tennis doubles along with NWA divisional doubles champion.

Polson senior hitter Kaelyn Smith received honorable mention recognition for her role as leading spiker and blocker at the net for the Lady Pirates. Smith averaged just over ten kills per game over the course of 14 regular season and a half dozen postseason games, adding just under another hundred accumulated during the course of two tournaments to push her cumulative season total past the triple century (300) mark. Her just over a hundred kills spiked over the course of two seasons of varsity action in a more supplemental role coupled with her just under a hundred kills from an undefeated junior varsity sophomore season push her cumulative prep career kills figures past the half millennial (500) mark.

Smith’s solo blocks coupled with block assists contributed another 30-some points for the Lady Pirate point treasure trove this season. Her preceding pair of varsity season block contributions push her cumulative prep career totals past the half century (50) mark for solo blocks with more than another 40 cumulative prep career block assists, that when added to her undefeated junior varsity block contributions push her total past the century (100) mark for cumulative prep career blocks. Smith also holds a pair of all-state along with a trio of all-conference accolades in softball.

A pair of players among the Maidens received honorable mention recognition. Ronan junior setter Tiana Ulutoa set the table for her fellow Maidens over 200 times with set assists along with placing among team leaders on occasion in other categories.

The caliber of play exhibited by Ronan freshman middle blocker/outside hitter Madeline McCrea progressed over the course of the season to such an extent that her role transitioned from more supplemental into integral contributor for the Maidens, spiking multiple dozens of kills at the offensive end and evolving into one of the leading blockers at the net on the defensive end of the spectrum.

District 6B

Mission Lady Bulldog sophomore outside hitter Karolyna Buck received second-team recognition for her contributions on the court. During the regular season, Buck spiked almost eight dozen kills along with almost two dozen blocks. Her numbers would be further bolstered by two tournament contributions which would push her kill tally past the century (100) threshold along with her blocks and digs into the multiple dozen range.
