Lady Vikings finish third in district play

The Charlo Lady Vikings concluded its season with a 42-37 loss to St. Regis in the Western Class 14C Challenge game Monday night at the Ronan Events Center.

Though Charlo took a 31-29 lead into the fourth quarter, they struggled to generate offense in the fourth only scoring a total of six points.

Cheyenne Nagy finished with 15, Allie Delaney had seven, Kaitlin Cox finished with five, Kenzie Couture had four, Tyrah Hammond had three, Destiny Manuel had two and Sakoya Gaustad finished with one on the night.

The Lady Vikings finished their season with a 13-10 record. St. Regis will advance to the Class C Divisional Round.

Throughout the season, the Lady Vikings competed in the top-tier of their own conference.

In the tournament the Lady Vikings defeated Plains 33-32 in the District 14C consolation championship, the Lady Vikings reined in the Trotters with a second half surge to open the door to challenge St. Regis for the second seed spot.

The Lady Vikings were led by Cheyenne Nagy who finished with 20 points, Sakoya Gaustad had five, Allie Delaney two, Kaitlin Cox four, and Tyrah Hammond and Adriana Johnson finished with one point each.

The Lady Vikings also defeated Hot Springs 38-26 in the loser-out portion of the divisional.

Cheyenne Nagy crested the 300-point plateau for scoring on the season.

Nagy led the team with 17 points, Gaustad had eight, Allie Delaney had five, and Kaitlin Cox finished with three points.

The other team Charlo was able to defeat was Noxen in the openin round of the tournament. The Lady Vikings were by Nagy’s 22. Other contributed included Cox and Kenzie Couture with six points each.
