For the Lake County Leader

Welcome to the new year. Lets hope that 2017 is a great one, and that we remember to put the right date on our checks. Just about the time I get that down, they go and change the year one me. Go figure.

Last Friday, we had 52 people brave the weather for our birthday dinner. As usual our cooks did an outstanding job, and we all enjoyed the good food and music.

Our condolences to several of our members who have lost family and friends over the holiday season. Just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We also have members who have been or are still in the hospital, and we wish them a speedy recovery and continued good health.

The monthly Board meeting will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 9.

The painting and craft sessions will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 4, and the Monday afternoon Bridge games will resume on Jan. 9. Both of these groups want new people to join them, and all are welcome.

The evening Pinochle players will meat here on Jan. 16. They start playing at 7 p.m., and they, too, would like for other card players to join them.

The foot clinic is here on Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 10 a.m. until noon.

There is no cost for this service, but donations are gladly accepted. Call the center at 676-2371 and we will put you name on the list. (We are having pork chops that day).

Our evening meal will be on Thursday, Jan. 12. Dinner is served at 5:30 and we will be having pork roast. This is a great meal for only $5 and everyone is welcome to join us.

Last, but not least, our birthday dinner for January will be on the 27th.

Our menu for the next two weeks is:

Wednesday, Jan. 4: Polish dogs and sauerkraut

Friday, Jan. 6: chicken

Monday, Jan. 9: enchiladas

Wednesday, Jan. 11: goulash

Thursday, Jan. 12: pork roast

Friday, Jan. 13: ham and scalloped potatoes

Monday, Jan. 16: lasagna

Wednesday, Jan. 18: pork chops

Friday, Jan. 20: tuna noodle casserole.

Have a great new year.
