Inauguration awakens populace

| January 26, 2017 2:21 PM

It’s 4:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 23. I awoke with a start feeling energized. So here I am at the computer.

Yesterday, at our JourneyBe gathering, Rev. John Payne spoke briefly making reference to Friday’s inauguration and Saturdays marches. He then opened up the next hour for discussion, sharing of insights, reflections and thoughts going forward. It was quite amazing.

The whole tone was lively, upbeat, thoughtful, hopeful, and filled with the feeling of being inspired by a recognized ‘movement for change’.

There was a recognition that sometimes it takes a ‘whack on the head’ to get our attention. Such a whack has apparently been delivered to our nation and our world in the form of our presidential election.

Here is what I came away with from our JourneyBe gathering yesterday: The spontaneous “Women’s March”, only two months in the forming, is one of those moments in history where the human race is given an opportunity to recognize, acknowledge, and be moved to action by demonstrating the best of our true nature as people living together.

This movement, this opportunity we have as ‘people of this world’ goes way beyond any narrow definitions in politics or any one nation’s system of governing. This movement has opened people’s hearts and minds to the full potential of building a world that works through ‘people power’. We speak of ‘grassroots’. We speak of ‘from the ground up’. We speak of ‘inherent goodness’. We speak of ‘the feminine energy of love’. The signs in these marches reading “Love Trumps Hate” were everywhere.

Many spoke of this yesterday. Our ‘small but mighty’ gathering at JourneyBe was just one example of what is and will be ongoing open and free expressions of optimism, hope and joy in the hearts and minds of multitudes of Americans and our world’s friends.

This is big. This has life. This encompasses and involves our world of humans looking for love in all the right places.

And, by the way, this transforms “America First” into “Love First”
