Autopsy results pending after fatal Jet Ski accident
Results from an autopsy are still pending after a Florida man was found unresponsive near a Jet Ski in Flathead Lake last week, according to officials.
Lake County Sheriff Donald Bell shared a press release July 5 stating that, at 6:37 p.m. on July 3, friends of Robert Paul Trejo, 39, of Ocala, Florida, reported he had fallen off his Jet Ski in the Finley Point area.
It is unknown what caused Trejo to fall off the Jet Ski, Bell said via phone Monday afternoon.
Trejo was approximately 200 yards from shore, Bell said.
Emergency responders including Lake County Search and Rescue, Lake County Sheriff deputies and neighbors worked together to get Trejo and his friends to safety on a nearby boat. Bell said CPR was administered for about 15 minutes on Trejo, who had “a slight pulse and slow breathing,” but he passed away while in route to the hospital.
More details were not available Monday afternoon pending lab results, Bell confirmed Monday.
Trejo’s body was sent to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula, for an autopsy.
