It is difficult to not mention Bea Frissell in a conversation about Polson boys, girls track this season and it mostly has to do with the statistical analysis of her performances.

As Frissell headed into the Class A & C competition Thursday and Friday at the Laurel Complex at Laurel High School, there was a lot of pre-race speculation that she would be a perennial contender in the 1600 and 3200 meter races.

There was a consensus amongst several area track coaches that Frissell’s big hurdle towards standing at the top of the podium would be Pipi Eitel of Belgrade. The coaches’ prediction turned out to be right.

Frissell finished third in the 1600 meter race with a time of 5 minutes, 10.84 seconds. Frissell finished behind Heidi Nisly of Corvallis, who clocked in at second with a time of 5 minutes, 10.62 seconds. Eitel finished first with a time of 4 minutes, 57.07 seconds.

Frissell challenged Eitel in the 3200 but still finished 29 seconds behind her en route to a second-place finish. Eitel ran a time of 10 minutes, 56.69 seconds and Frissell was the closest one to her with a time of 11 minutes, 25.23 seconds.

Frissell was also a member of the 4X400 relay team that finished 12th, recording a time of 4 minutes, 25.64 seconds. The relay team consisted of Shaeley Brown, Gwen Reese, Shayla Olson, and Frissell.

Lady Pirates’ Shaeley Brown finished 7th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 3.60. Brown also finished 13th in the 200-meter dash recording a time of 27.91 seconds. Brown finished 10th in the 100-meters with a time of 13.60 seconds. Sitter, like Frissell, will be one of the key components to the 2017-2018 Lady Pirates cross county team that will enter the season with high expectations. Though the season is still a couple of months away, her 11th place finish in the 1600 with a time of 5 minutes, 31.53 seconds and 8th place finish in the 3200 with a time of 12 minutes, 22.69 seconds shows she was one of the key components for the Lady Pirates’ track team and will be one of the key components for its cross cross country team.

Shayla Olson qualified for State in the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.

Olson finished 21st in the 100-meter hurdles, and also PRed with a time of 18.49 seconds. She finished 13th in the 300-meter hurdles with a PR time of 51.63 seconds.

Naima Crowl finished 19th in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 43.49 seconds. Crowl finished 15th in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12 minutes, 55.83 seconds.

Lady Pirates’ Mikaela Ducharme finished 9th in the triple jump recording a leap of 32 feet, 10 inches.

Gwen Seeley also finished 18th in the 3200 recording a time of 13 minutes, 39.84 seconds.

Rensvold concludes state with two top-5 finishes

Polson’s Mathew Rensvold concluded his storied athletic career with the Polson Pirates at the Class A & C state meet Thursday and Friday at the Laurel Complex at Laurel High School.

Rensvold is better known for his storied football career as he was one of the 2017-2018 signees for the University of Montana Grizzlies’ football team. But his track accolades are nearly as impressive.

Rensvold qualified for three individual State track events and was also a member of the 4X100 and 4X400 relay teams.

Rensvold finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.49 seconds and also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.88 seconds. In the 100-meter dash, Rensvold finished 15th with a time of 11.55 seconds.

Rensvold was a key contributor to a team that finished second in the 4X100 meter relay. That team consisted of Danny DiGiallonardo, Rensvold, Kyle Druyvestein, and Tanner Wilson, who finished second with a time of 43.61 seconds.

The team that finished 10th in the 4X400 consisted of Connor Lanier, Quin Stewart, Tanner Wilson and Dugan Davis finished with a time of 3 minutes, 34.12 seconds.

DiGiallonardo qualified in four events including the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 300-meter hurdles and long jump. DiGiallonardo finished 18th in the 100-meter with a time of 11.63 seconds, 15th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.81 seconds, sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.80 seconds, and 7th in the long jump recording a PR of 20 feet, 5.25 inches.

Pirates’ Quin Stewart finished 14th in the 800-meter relay with time of 2 minutes, 4.95 seconds. Stewart also placed 19th with a time of 4 minutes, 49 seconds.

Pirates’ Connor Lanier finished in the top 10 in three individual events he qualified for. Lanier finished 7th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.63 seconds, 9th in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.18 seconds, and fourth in the triple jump, recording a distance of 42 feet, 7.25 inches, a new PR for Lanier.
