Grants announced for community development groups on Flathead Indian Reservation

The Montana Community Foundation (MCF) announces the opening of the Oleta Smith Endowment Fund grant cycle. This fund was endowed by the late Oleta “Pete” Smith who was a long-time human rights activist and environmental advocate.

Applicants must be either a 501(c)(3) nonprofit or an exempt governmental unit. Grants will range in size from $1,000 to $3,000 and only one application is allowed per organization. Grants must be used for projects or programs supporting education and activities promoting cooperation and civic engagement as they influence social harmony and the well-being of families in the area of the Flathead Indian Reservation. This fund is intended to support conferences, workshops, conflict resolution, volunteer work, and social gatherings free to residents of the Flathead Indian Reservation.

Proposals should address activities that promote positive relations among people and focus on the Flathead Indian Reservation area. Preference will be given to projects with intergenerational dimensions. Proposals must include the organization’s name, address, telephone number and contact person. Proposals should also describe the project or program, other funding sources and/or partners, the desired outcomes and the population served. Additionally, please provide a copy of your IRS determination letter and if not available, please provide an explanation.
