Library looking forward to eventful March
March has definitely come in like a lion this year. One way or another spring will be here on March 20 and marks the end of winter and the end of our Winter Reading Program. You have through March 19 to keep reading, and be sure to bring your completed reading log (seven squares in a row) into the library by March 31. We haven’t seen very many reading logs yet, so your chances of winning one of our two prize drawings are pretty good.
The staff here at the library is ready for the beauties of springtime in Montana. Along with spring weather (hopefully), March brings with it many fun things to celebrate, and we are always up for a celebration!
We have two exciting musical programs this month. On March 8 at 5:30 p.m., Wilbur Rehmann will present his Humanities Montana program on Jazz. He will discuss various aspects of Jazz and will also treat us to some Jazz tunes on his saxophone. We have DVDs and books on Jazz as well as Jazz music CDs that you can check out. To continue our music theme, we are hosting the Navy Band Northwest Brass Quintet on Friday, March 24 at 1:30 p.m. Both programs are free and open to the public.
Of course, March also brings with it St. Patrick’s Day, and we will be celebrating by wearing our green. Do you have a bit of Irish in your blood? If you’re not sure if you’re Irish and you’d like to find out before your big St. Patty’s Day celebration, stop by the Library to do a little family history research for free on Ancestry.com and HeritageQuest. Bring in whatever names and dates that you have for parents, grandparents, and great grandparents and we can help get you started on your search.
We will also be celebrating Irish culture with a Celtic themed coloring program for adults and teens on Wednesday, March 22. Angela has planned for two sessions (2:30 and 5:30 p.m.) and local harpist, Debbie Conrad, will be providing background music. Angela has some beautiful pages ready to color – all supplies are provided and the program is free and open to the public.
