Trump cabinet picks threaten democracy

| March 9, 2017 6:35 PM

Let’s put party politics aside for just a few minutes. Democracy is at stake. Some glaring facts. This involves our new administration’s people of influence. Here are four outstanding examples.

Rex Tillerson, Secretary of State. Very close ties with Russia and Putin. As former Exxon CEO, he and Russia were contracting for oil drilling in Russia, a huge financial boost for Russia. Sanctions put a stop on all this.

Wilbur Ross, Commerce Secretary, billionaire investor who has earned the title: “The King of Bankruptcy”. He has many shady financial connections with Russia which the White House attempts to cover up.

Carter Page, Foreign Policy Advisor, oil industry consultant with strong Russian ties. He has been scrutinized by the FBI on suspicions of private connections with senior Russian officials.

Paul Manifort, lobbyist, political consultant, and former Trump Campaign Manager. Close ties with Russia and his lobbying work in Ukraine for the pro-Russian government. Great Putin ally.

The ‘handwriting is on the White House wall. All this must be taken seriously. With keen awareness and sensible resolve, We the People’s leadership and action will move us through this ‘time of disruption’ and forward with our enduring democracy.
