Quist represents right direction for country

| May 3, 2017 3:21 PM

Surely both Gianforte and Quist are decent individuals. They probably both like kittens and apple pie and don’t kick puppies. Both are intelligent and will necessarily have to learn on-the-job. But this election is much more than that.

Trump’s destructive policies — environment, education, wealth-mis-distribution, nepotism (too many to list) — are alarming to a great many citizens. With the current congressional makeup, concerns daily become more serious. Even if Republican congressional members change their minds, they are under tremendous pressure not to modify their votes. Example: Murkowski in Alaska.

Gianforte will become just one more cog in the Trump juggernaut assault on human values — one more pothole in the road towards a civilization which could be paved with science, education and health — one more voting critter in Trump’s swamp.

Face the obvious. There is potential in this election to promote a check and balance in Congress. This fits what must have been the intentions of the Founders of our country — to be able to put the brakes on tyrants. Each citizen’s corrective vote is both a nail in the tire of a tyrant and also a brick donated toward building a citizen-oriented democracy.

This election is also about realizing that running a government is not the same as running a profit-driven business. Our government’s purpose is to serve all the citizens, especially the vulnerable. We are all stakeholders in caring for our diverse fellow citizens.

It is time to remove some of the “Rs” from the Congressional alphabet soup. Montana can help replace an “R” with a “C” (Correct: the direction of our country.) Help further the dreams of our Founders. Use your unique “two V” superpowers (voice plus vote) which are more powerful than expensive fake TV ads. Vote for Quist.
