Polson runner Bea Frissell has now catapulted herself among one of the best track distance runners in the Class-A state of Montana and has etched her name in the Polson High School record books this week.

Frissell qualified for state in all three distance categories as she performed at the Top-10 Invitation only meet in Missoula and competed in the A.R.M. Invitational in Whitefish.

At the A.R.M Invitational, Frissell finished first with a time of 5 minutes, 21.59 seconds, a personal record, in the 1,600 meter relay.

Frissell also competed in the 3,200 meter relay, recording a time of 11 minutes, 20.13 seconds, another personal record.

“It was quite a week with the biggest thing going down on Tuesday when she set the school record in the 3,200 and was the leader for Class A in state with her time,” Polson distance coach Matt Seeley said. “She came back and is trying to go for the mile record. That would be pretty amazing. She is trying to go for a lifetime record and will probably continue to attempt that.”

Seeley said he felt Frissell’s performance was “great.”

“It was a great performance, and she is really coming into her own,” Seeley said. “Challenging two school records is amazing. There was nothing wrong with how she raced on Saturday.”

Teammate Molly Sitter also finished well at the A.R.M. Invitational. Sitter finished fourth in the 1,600 meter relay with a time of 5 minutes, 45.01 seconds. Sitter also placed third recording a time of 12 minutes, 42.37 seconds in the 3,200.

Gwen Seeley placed second in the 800 meter, recording a time of 2 minutes, 45.04 seconds.

Naima Crowl finished third in the 1,600 with a time of 5 minutes, 44.84, a personal record for Crowl.

Despite the wet conditions, Seeley said conditions were “favorable” for runners.

“The conditions really varied and there was a lot of rain off and on but what really made it dramatic was the whole field turned into mud,” Seeley said. “It stayed pretty clean. There were a lot of kids walking in the mud and getting mud all over their uniforms. Conditions were tough at times but it was good running weather. Just a little cold and damp.”

Stewart captures first place at A.R.M. Invite

Pirates’ runner Quin Stewart captured first place and PRed in the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.37.

Stewart also finished sixth in the 1,600 with a time of 4 minutes, 51.17 seconds.
