Lady Bulldogs build momentum
The Mission-Arlee-Charlo (M-A-C) Lady Bulldog softball team continues to ride a wave of momentum following a takedown of three Class A teams at the Frenchtown Invitational the previous weekend by dispatching a pair of Western B-C opponents last week.
In a cross county clash last Thursday, M-A-C reciprocated Ronan by rallying past an early one run deficit. Catcher Kenzie Couture likewise caught hold of a pitch with her bat when she launched a solo home run to tie the game. Thereafter, with a pair of runners in scoring position, bottom third of the order batter Vanessa Kent plated Ran’Dee Charlo with a RBI generating groundout to take over the lead for good. The Lady Bulldogs would never look back.
This past weekend, M-A-C swept a doubleheader with Deer Lodge as they locked down the Lady Wardens by ten run ruling them in the first game, then rallied past in the second half of the nightcap to pick up their thirteenth win of the season. Charlo hit for the cycle and then some over the course of the doubleheader and accounted for a half dozen RBIs. Leadoff Haley Crawford, versatile Azia-Rain Umphrey, Couture and Summer DarcAngelo also hit for extra bases, accounting for a quintet of doubles. The Lady Bulldogs also showcased some of their roster depth by utilizing a four pitcher rotation in tandem with a pair of catchers as they disabled the DL of Deer Lodge.
M-A-C is on the road the final week of the regular schedule with games against Plains on Thursday, then travel to the Butte Central Laverne Combo Tournament in Butte over the weekend, where they will face the Stillwater (Columbus-Absarokee-Park City) Renegades and the Glasgow Scotties on Saturday.
