Hot Springs' Paro excels in district meet
Hot Springs’ trackster Trevor Paro’s athleticism is well documented in football, baseball, basketball and just about any other sport he participates in.
Paro finished first in long jump clearing 20 feet, 4 inches and first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.60 seconds in the Class-C District race Thursday at Polson High School.
Paro finished second in the triple jump clearing 40 feet, 1.5 inches, second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.11 seconds, and second in the 200-meters with a time of 24.29 seconds.
Savage Heat teammate James De Tienne captured first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 10 seconds, and the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4 minutes, 51.16 seconds.
Connor Perry finished first in the shot put with a distance of 42 feet, 5.25 inches and Addison Mueller placed second in discus with a throw of 120 feet, 10 inches.
Karly Lawson cleared a throw of 115 feet, 3 inches to finish second in the javelin.
Thompson Falls boys excel in Bigfork
The Thompson Falls boys track and field team brought home plenty of accolades in the Class 7B District Tournament at Bigfork High School.
Garrett Strine finished first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 11.88, Casey White finished fourth by recording a time of 12.14 seconds, a personal record.
Strine finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.07 seconds. Danny Hoisington finished fourth with a time of 24.29 seconds.
Strine finished third in the 300-meters with a time of 53.81 and Nate Tibeault finished with a time of 54.41 seconds.
Colby Lantz finished in the 1600 recording a time of 5 minutes, 1.14 seconds and Parker McConnell finished with a time of 5 minutes, 3.13 seconds.
Lantz remained competitive in the 3200 finishing third with a time of 10 minutes, 57.18 seconds and McConnell finished with a time of 11 minutes, 9.85 seconds.
Hoisington placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.43 seconds and Cody Garrison finished fifth with time of 18.89 seconds.
Strine placed second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.26 seconds and Garrison placed fifth with a time of 44.39 seconds.
McKenzie Holt placed fourth in shot put with a distance of 45 feet, 7.50 inches. Kade VanEkswyk placed second in discus with a throw of 134 feet, 1 inches. VanEkswyk finished first in the javelin with a throw of 152, 11 inches and Holt placed second throwing 152, 10 inches.
Austin Cooper finished second in the high jump with a jump of 5 feet, 10 inches. Strine finished first in the pole vault clearing 12 feet, 6 inches and Losha Schroeder finished second with a jump of 12 feet.
Hoisington also excelled in the long jump with a second place finish. Hoisington cleared 18 feet, .25 inches. Tibeault finished fifth with a jump of 17 feet, 7.75 inches.
Hoisington captured first place in the triple jump with cumulative jumps recorded at 41 feet, 3.50 inches. VanEkswyk finished fourth, clearing 38 feet, .50 inches.
The Bluehawks finished fourth in the 4X100 relay. The relay team consisted of Ryan, Losha Schroeder, Hoisington, and VanEkswyk, who finished with a time of 46.98.
The 4X400 relay team finished third with at time of 3 minutes, 52.49 seconds that included Cody Garrison, Tibeault, McConnel and Schroeder.
Lady Bluehawks shine at 7B Districts
Haley Morgan captured fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.27 seconds. Rachel Ribeiro finished third in the 3200 with a time of 13 minutes, 59.54 seconds. Maya Stokes finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.76 seconds, a personal record. Lacey VanZanten finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 54.49 seconds.
The Lady Bluehawks also excelled in the 4X100 meter relay event. The team that consisted of Stiles, Haley Morgan, Bethany Ulrick, and Gillian Nelson finished fourth with a time of 54.23 seconds.
In the 4X400 meter relay, they finished second with a time of 4 minutes, 39.54 seconds. The team included Sarah Datlaff, Haley Morgan, Bethanie Ulrick, and Gillian Nelson.
In shot put, Bailey Pardee finished second and PRing with a throw of 29 feet, 9.50 inches.
Madison Wheeler finished first in the javelin with a throw of 110 feet, four inches.
Brionna McJunkin PRed and captured first in the discus recording throws of 90 feet, 1 inches. Pardew finished second with a throw of 92 feet, 11.50 inches, a personal record.
