Maidens excel in Frenchtown

FRENCHTOWN — The Ronan Maidens’ track team found themselves consistently with top times at the Class-B Districts at Frenchtown.
Ronan’s tracksters finished first in seven of the 17 track events they participated in.
Maidens’ runner Kinsely Barney finished first in two of the six events she participated in. Barney captured first and PRed in the 100-meter dash recording a time of 13.26 seconds.
Barney carried over her success in the 200-meter dash recording a time of 27.47 seconds, another PR.
Barney was also a member of the 4X400 relay team that placed second and included Sacorra Reum, Penni Weyant, and Ashley McCready. The team recorded a time of 4 minutes, 39.63 seconds.
McCrea excels at districts
Maidens’ speedster Micalann McCrea finished second in the 100-meter dash, the discus, and the javelin. McCrea’s time in the 100 was 13.27 seconds, the discus throw was 104 feet, 9 inches, and javelin was 107 feet, 11 inches.
McCready takes first in three events
Ronan High School runner Ashley McCready captured first in three events Friday and Saturday at the Class-B District meet at Frenchtown High School.
McCready, who is signed with Montana State University-Northern, has remained consistent all season and down the stretch looks to excel. McCready finished first in the 800, 1600, 3200, and finished second in the 4X400 relay. McCready recorded a time of 2 minutes, 36.22 seconds in the 800-meter, she had a time of 5 minutes, 47.35 seconds in the 1600, a time of 12 minutes, 25.51 seconds in the 3200, and together with Barney, Reum, Weyant, the 4X400 meter relay team finished with a time of 5 minutes, 2.19 seconds.
McCrea captures second in shot put
Micalann McCrea excelled in the field events. McCrea finished second with a throw of 104 feet, 9 inches in the shot put.
Towards the end of the basketball season, standout Lee Camel injured her ankle. Now, at the end of the track season, Camel has begun to heal and is living up to his potential. Camel finished fourth with a throw of 35 feet, 6.50 inches, which is a personal record. McCrea finished fifth, behind Camel, with a throw of 34 feet, 1 inches.
McCrea also finished second in the javelin recording a throw of 107 feet, 11 inches. Mission High School’s Leila Marsh PRed with a throw of 89 feet, 10 inches and Hunter Eichert PRed with a throw of 88 feet, 3 inches.
