Vikings tracksters dominate districts
POLSON — The Charlo track and field boys team asserted its dominance winning nine of 17 track events at the Districts 14-C Thursday afternoon at Polson High School.
Vikings’ trackster Lander Smith finished in only one place in every event he participated in: first.
Smith won 100 meter dash with a time of 11.98 seconds, he finished first in the 200 recording a time of 23.99, he cleared 12 feet, 6 inches to capture first in pole vault, and was a member of the 4X100 and the 4X400 relay teams that both captured first.
Charlo’s 4X100 and 4X400 relay team read like a who’s who on their football team that finished second place in District 14-C this season. The 4X100 relay team that clocked in a time of 46.15 consisted of Garrett Vaughan, Toby Odom, Jared Doty and Smith.
The 4X400 relay had Odom, Bridger Foust, Doty and Smith, who finished first with a time of 3 minutes, 51.23 seconds.

Charlo’s Jared Doty had one first place finish in the 400-meter relay, PRing with a time of 54.21 seconds.
Doty also was a member of the 4X100 and 4X400 teams that finished first.
Degrandpre shines in 1600, 3200
Wills Degrandpre picked an appropriate time to capture his first first place finish and PR of the season. Degrandpre won the 1600 and 3200 meter runs with a time of 4 minutes, 50.06 seconds and 11 minutes, 4.17 seconds.
Lady Vikes excel in Districts
The Charlo Lady Vikings finished a close second behind their Arlee rivals.
The Lady Vikes finished with a total of six first place finishes, only two behind the Scarlets.
Charlo’s Allie Delaney was a part of four of the Lady Vikes’ first place finishes.
Delaney finished first in the 200-meter dash recording a time of 27.48 seconds, the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49 seconds, and was a part of two first place relay teams in the 4X100 and 4X400. The 4X100 relay team also consisted of Kaitlin Cox, Tyrah Hammond, and Kara Tatukivei. The team clocked in at 52.16 seconds. The 4X400 relay team that consisted of Destiny Manuel, Cheyenne Nagy, Hammond, and Delaney finished with a time of 4 minutes, 28.80 seconds.
Charlo Lady Vikings Taylor McCready finished first in the pole vault leaping to 8 feet, 6 inches. Kaitlin Cox PRed in the triple jump levitating to a distance of 33 feet, 6.50 inches.
