Man to be sentenced for 2014 burglaries

Alex Doxtater will be sentenced on Nov. 30 after he entered a guilty plea last week on 10 counts involving burglary and theft.

Those charges include: seven theft misdemeanors, punishable by a maximum sentence of six months incarceration and a maximum fine of $1,500; one burglary felony, punishable by 20 years imprisonment and up to a $50,000 fine; one theft felony, punishable by 10 years imprisonment and up to a $50,000 fine; and one criminal trespass to vehicles, a misdemeanor, punishable by up to six months in jail and a $500 fine.

Court documents show that the incidences began in August 2014, when residents in the Woods Bay development in Polson reported thefts in cars on Aug. 24, Aug. 25 and Aug. 26.

On Sept. 1, 2014, multiple residents reported their vehicles had been rummaged through as well as thefts.

A male resident reported that someone entered his vehicle through the night and stole a pistol, laptop and battery charger.

Another resident reported someone entered his home without his permission.

He was awoken by his dogs barking at about 3:15 a.m. The resident reported he discovered a set of keys and a camera were taken from his home.

The keys and camera were located at Doxtater’s residence the next day, documents state.
