Edward Daniel Morehead

| November 30, 2017 4:00 AM

Edward Daniel Morehead, (Daniel, Dan, Dad, Mr. Morehead, Mr. Grace, Danny Boy) passed away on November 13, 2017 in a

tragic accident.  Born in Columbus, Mont., on May 20, 1959 to E.D. Corkey and Shirley Morehead.

He was the youngest of four children, David, Barbara and Janet, respectively. His parents owned the 4K Guest Ranch and later a cherry

orchard in Polson, Montana, overlooking Flathead Lake.

He would often reminisce of times spent growing up on the ranch and his younger years, taking great pleasure talking about the famous guests (including Elizabeth Taylor and Chet Huntley) that his family hosted at the dude ranch.

He loved telling stories about his pet raccoon Chuckles, who stole things from Shirley’s purse and broke the neighbor’s Christmas lights.

Dan graduated from high school in 1977 and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in Business Finance from Montana State University in Bozeman, Mont.

He married Diana Ferrell on June 20, 1981 and they raised one son, Jack Daniel Morehead.

Dad spent many years in the banking industry in a variety of cities, including: Fargo, Missoula, Casper, Jackson Hole, Colorado Springs and Green Bay. He was fortunate to retire at an early age and moved his family back to Missoula, Montana in 1997.

In 1998 he separated from his wife Diana, but to this day loved her dearly and spent Mother’s Day 2017 with her and their son in his Spokane home.

In 2002, Dan made a new home with David Herrera, spending 10 loving years together traveling the world and sharing new experiences.  Although they went their separate ways, their loving and devoted relationship continued throughout the years.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Barbara. He is survived by his son, Jack, and his wife, Courtney, his former wife, Diana, his brother Dave and his wife, Helen, and his sister, Janet, and her husband, Gus, plus nieces and nephews.

Daniel was a father to one, a partner to some and a dear friend to countless people. He enjoyed mountain biking in his thirties and enjoyed dining with his treasured family and friends, and traveled around the globe in his later years.

It was not uncommon to see him dressed impeccably, ready to enjoy a bottle of wine, fantastic food and the company of his favorite people, of which there were many!

Mr. Morehead will be greatly missed by not only family and friends, but also various people he met in his day-to- day interactions. Like so many of us, he was not perfect, but thought we were and loved us tremendously.

Dad, you will forever remain a reflection of the good in our soul, the smile on our faces, the beauty in our eyes and the generosity in our hearts.

There will be a ceremony to celebrate his life on Saturday Dec. 9, 2017 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Missoula, starting at 5 p.m. Online condolences and memories may be posted at www.hennesseyfuneralhomes.com  We love you. This is not goodbye, but a celebration of who you were and the man that will remain in our hearts forever.
