Pirates, Lady Pirates cross country shine at Mountain West
Polson High School cross country runner Bea Frissell utilizedSaturday’s Mountain West Classic in Missoula as her personal showcase.
Frissell, who entered the race on a hot streak, carried the momentum she established from previous races to become the top Class A runner after a eighth-place finish recording a time of 18 minutes, 49.60 seconds.
The winner of the race was Tiahna Vladic from Billings Senior, who recorded a time of 17 minutes, 44.63 seconds to capture the victory.
“Bea had another great run to finish 8th against very strong competition,” Pirates’ coach Matt Seeley said of her performance.
Naima Crowl also finished in the top 20 of the race and was one of the key contributors to the Polson Lady Pirates’ fourth-place finish with a time of 19 minutes, 31.56 seconds. Crowl also finished third amongst Class A runners and Molly Sitter finished 11th with a time of 20 minutes, 44.08 seconds.
“The girls finished very well and finished in 13th place as a team, just ahead of rival Hardin for first among Montana Class A schools,” Seeley said.
The Pirates boys cross country team had a “tough day” according to Seeley but Quin Stewart ended up finishing in the top 100 recording a time of 17 minutes, 38.47 seconds.
The Pirates will not race this week as they do some special training in preparation for the conference and state meets coming up.
Bulldogs, Lady Bulldogs cross country finishes strong at Mountain West
The Mission Bulldogs, Lady Bulldogs cross country team finished strong at the Mountain West Classic Saturday in Missoula.
“That was a huge meet today,” Bulldogs, Lady Bulldogs coach Chris Eichert said. “There were over 300 runners in each race. It was spectacular to watch all of the amazing runners there competing. You have to take into account there were runners coming from Idaho, Washington, Wyoming and all over Montana to compete.”
Bulldogs runner Troy Matt PRed with a time of 19 minutes, 7 seconds. Isaiah finished with a time of 19 minutes, 16 seconds, another personal record. Eugene Seyler finished with a time of 20 minutes, 26 seconds, Aidyn Rosenbaum finished with a time of 22 minutes, 49 seconds, and Connor Burke finished with a time of 25 minutes, 33 seconds.

Lady Bulldogs runners Karolyna Buck nearly PRed with a time of 24 minutes, 9 seconds and Yvonne Baty finished with a time of 25 minutes, 28 seconds. “I am so proud of each of my athletes,” Eichert said. “They all amaze me every time they race with their effort and dedication.”
