Fire danger low on Flathead reservation

On Oct. 4, the Division of Fire announced that due to “significant and widespread rain,” fire danger has dropped to “low” on the Flathead Indian Reservation, according to a press release.

Officials with DOF are also reminding the public that Oct. 1 was the start of open debris burning season. A permit is not needed for open debris burning.

Although fire danger is low but not at “zero,” the press release states that residents should “be aware that fire danger conditions can change rapidly on sunny, windy days.”

Hunters and campers are cautioned to make sure their warming fires are cold and “dead-out” before they leave camp.
