Mission, Charlo, Arlee cross country finish strong

The Mission Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs cross country team has continued to show signs of improvements throughout the 2017 season and the Class B state cross country meet Saturday at Helena was no exception.

The Bulldogs cross country boys team had three runners that finished in the top 100 of the pack.

Troy Matt placed 45th recording a time of 19 minutes, 6 seconds, which was Matt’s personal record this season. Isaiah Nasewytewa finished 55th with a time of 19 minutes, 23 seconds, Eugene Seyler placed 88th recording a time of 20 minutes, 31 seconds and Connor Burke finished in 154th place with a time of 21 minutes, 45 seconds.

Lady Bulldogs excel in Helena

The Mission Lady Bulldogs cross country team finished with two runners in the top-100.

Karolyna Buck placed 74th out of a field of 151 recording a time of 25 minutes, 2 seconds and Yvonne Baty placed 88th recording a time of 25 minutes, 57 seconds.

Bulldogs, Lady Bulldogs coach Chris Eichert said she felt her team performed exceptionally well in the race and throughout the season.

“My team had an amazing season this year. I have a very young team, and our main goal was to decrease each of their times to be competitive,” Eichert said. “They accomplished this. They all decreased their times by 2 to 3 minutes. We may not have placed high at State, but I think in the next couple of years, we will be there.”

Vikes, Lady Vikes shine

Charlo Vikings Wills Degrandpre, finished 14th with a time of 18 minutes, 3.18; 24 seconds, Devon Siech, finished 28th with a time of 19 minutes 21.01 seconds 28, Connor Koenig, finished 93rd with a time of 19 minutes, 33.70 seconds and Nate Delaney ran a time of 23 minutes, 12.50 seconds.

Lady Vikings Brooklyn Foust won All-State honors, finishing ninth with a time of 22 minutes, 56.81 seconds, Jaden Coston, finished 28th, wiht a time of 23 minutes, 41.89 seconds, and Aryal Love finished 43rd with a time of 24 minutes, 58.08 seconds.

Warriors, Scarlets excel

Jason Miller finished 73rd, with a time of 21 minutes, 33.67 seconds, Sequoia Wiley, 86th, with a time of 22 minutes, 16.44 seconds, Sage Nicolai, 94th with a time of 22 minutes, 24.39 seconds, James CrazyBoy recorded a time of 23 minutes, 18.01 seconds, Michael Matt finished with a time of 25 minutes, 11.74 seconds and Devin Cordier recorded a time of 26 minutes, 0.92 seconds.

Shawntaya Nelson, finished 25th, recording a time of 23 minutes, 19.84 seconds, Summer DarcAnglo recorded a time of 26 minutes, 55.27 seconds to finish 57, Malachi Deroche finished 64th with a time of 28 minutes, 4.99 seconds, Laurencia Starblanket placed 73rd with a time of 30 minutes, 18.39 seconds, Alie North, placed 76, with 30 minutes, 52.21 seconds, and Melaia Matt, placed 83rd, with a time of 32 minutes, 48.38 seconds.
