The Polson High School boys golf team captured first place in the Polson Invitational Monday afternoon at Mission Bay Golf Course.

The Pirates golf team fired a first place 315 to win the tournament.

“That was the lowest our team has shot all year,” Pirates’ coach Bill Owen said. “I am really excited about their potential (the rest of the season).”

Once again Carson McDaniel and Matt Hobbs competed with each other in a tight contest. McDaniel edged Hobbs firing a team-leading 76, beating Hobbs by one stroke. McDaniel placed third and Hobbs placed fourth.

Pirates golfer Trey Kelley is right behind the top two Pirate golfers. Kelley fired a 79 for a fifth place finish.

Other golfers that competed for Polson include Hogan Kelley who fired a 101 and Colby Devlin finished with an 83.

“Delvin did the best career mark and he is new to the varsity level and that is a good sign he can go that low,” Owen said. “Our team is really excited about his potential.”

Ronan’s Anthony Camel led his team by firing a 91. Other Ronan golfers include Bryant Hales (109), Caden Rhine (104) and Thomas Pretty On Top fired a 121.

Olson captures second

Ronan golfer Brooklyn Olson finished second firing a score of 93 at the Polson Invitational.

Olson finished six strokes behind Frenchtown’s Courey Ockler. Ockler finished first shooting an 87.

The Polson girls team finished second with a 440 on the day.

The Lady Pirates were led by Cali Cannon shot a 104. Other golfers for the Pirates included Esme Yarbrough who shot a 110, Amanda Farley finished with 112, and Berkley Ellis shot 114.
