Pirates boys cross country team shows significant improvement at Silver Fox

The Polson cross country team finished with two runners in the top 10 at the Polson-Ronan Invite in Saturday afternoon’s race at Silver Fox Golf Course in Pablo.
Pirates’ coach Quin Stewart and Jonah DuCharme both captured top-10 finishes for the boys team.
Stewart finished in the top 5 with a time of 17 minutes, 39 seconds and DuCharme captured a time of 18 minutes, 5 seconds.
The Pirates also captured the invitational title with a score of 37. The nearest competitor to their team was Frenchtown, who scored a 72.
“At the Mission Shadow Duels cross country meet in Pablo on Saturday, the Pirate boys and girls rose to the occasion with very strong performances in front of the home fans,” Seeley said. “After weeks of hard work in practice, I am starting to see big improvements, especially from some of the younger runners.”
Other runners that had solid races for the Pirates include Mason Sloan, who clocked in with a time of 18 minutes, 36 seconds en route to a 14th place finish. Kedrick Baker finished 17th with a time of 18 minutes, 56 seconds. Other placers for the Pirates were Zach Evertz, who finished with a time of 19 minutes, 8 seconds and Andrew Reed finished 24th with a time of 19 minutes, 24 seconds.
“I was both surprised and impressed to see the Pirate boys match the girls with an MS Duels team title of their own, even without injured senior leader Landon Shipley,” Seeley said. “The junior duo of Quin Stewart and Jonah DuCharme led the way for the Pirates, finishing in 5th and 8th overall. Then it was two first year runners, Mason Sloan and Andrew Reed, who ran personal bests to help seal the victory.”
