The Arlee High School football team had a short week to bounce back from their 56-6 conference-opening loss against Charlo Monday afternoon at Charlo High School.

Warriors’ coach Chuck Forgey just told his team to hit the “reset button,” when they prepared for Troy Tuesday afternoon.

Arlee responded to this strategy with a 52-14 victory over Troy Saturday afternoon at Arlee High School.

“We actually just worked harder and went at it on Tuesday,” Forgey said. “We just had to reset for this one.”

Forgey said he felt his team executed really well against Troy.

“I thought we played really well and had a good and fast game,” Forgey said.

The Warriors will play Plains at 7 p.m. Friday night at Arlee High School. Plains, who is an undefeated team, looks good on film, according to Forgey.

“They really control the ball on offense and they are really aggressive on defense,” Forgey said.

Forgey attributed Monday’s loss to Charlo to the caliber of opponent they played. The Vikings are picked by many area coaches this year to be one of the top contenders to win the Class C, 8-man state football title.

“Charlo is a really good team and they execute well,” Forgey said. “They are well coached and when you make the mistakes we did (against them) all it can do it put you behind and we just have to deal with it move onto the next game and our team did a good job doing that.”

Moving forward Forgey said he felt his team is “healthy as they’ve been” as he is pleased with the progress they made this week.

“The previous game I thought we tried to do too much,” Forgey said. “We did a lot better with our (offensive possessions), our blocking assignments, and defensively I thought we played a lot better today, each of our players knew their assignments and it showed.”
