Bulldogs excel at Tripp
Mission High School thrower Micheal Durglo has become accustomed to seeing his name in the top 5 and he continued this trend Friday afternoon at the Dave Tripp Memorial Meet at Polson High School.
Durglo finished first in the shot put with a distance of 43 feet, 11.50 inches and also finished second in the discus with a throw of 120 feet, 1 inch and fourth in javelin recording a throw of 143 feet, 4 inches.
The 4X100 relay consisting of Darius Redstar, Austin Elverud, Flint McPherson and Trance Bird finished with a time of 49.18 seconds.
The 4X400 relay that included Boone Gilleard, Connor Burke, Denzel Lefthand and Isaiah Nasateweya placed fourth with a time of 4 minutes, 18.68 seconds.
Other top-5 placers for the Bulldogs included Austin Elverud, who finished fifth in the 300-meter dash, recording a time of 49.08 seconds, a personal record. Flint McPherson had two top-5 finishes in long jump finishing with a jump of 18 feet, 10.50 inches, and the triple jump, clearing a distance of 38 feet, 1 inches.
Lady Bulldogs shine at Tripp
The Mission High School Lady Bulldogs distance runner Karolyna Buck has become one of the premier runners in the Mission Valley.
Buck showcased her athletic versatility by participating in the 800-meter, the 1600-meter, the 4X100 relay and the high jump. She finished in the top 5 in all of these events.
Buck finished second in the 800-meter relay with a time of 2 minutes, 53.54 seconds and third in the 1600-meters recording a time of 6 minutes, 27.87 seconds.
Buck was also a member of the 4X100 meter relay team with a time of 59.61 seconds. Other members of the team included Afton Brander, Hunter Eichert, Karolyna Buck and Sydney Brander.
Sydney Brander, like her teammate Buck, has emerged as one of Mission’s most versatile athletes. Brander finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.62 seconds and finished fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1 minute, 13.82 seconds.
Sydney Brander finished first in the long jump, setting a personal record of 15 feet, 9.50 inches. Her sister, Afton Brander, placed second in that event recording a jump of 15 feet, 5.50 inches.
The Brander Sisters competed with each other in the triple jump. Afton finished third with a jump of 33 feet, 10.75 inches and Sydney finished fourth clearing a jump of 32 feet, 3.25 inches.
Along with running, Buck showcased the athletic versatility that made her one of the Bulldogs’ star basketball players. Buck finished first in the high jump clearing 4 feet, 10 inches. Afton Brander also cleared 4 feet, 6 inches and Leila Marsh finished fifth in discus recording a throw of 76 feet, 11 inches.
Arlee’s Shawntaya Nelson finished second in the 3,200-meter dash recording a time of 15 minutes, 8.87 seconds.
