The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is offering a “spring special” for the Sheriff Labor Detail program.

In a press release from Lake County Sheriff Don Bell, between April 15 and June 21, those who owe jail time in excess of six days will be given credit for three days of jail time for one day of work with SLD.

The application fee and daily work fee have been reduced to $10 from $25.

Currently, the program gives two days jail credit for one eight-hour day of work, as required by state law.

Those with less than six days of jail time owed will also have half-priced fees.

People who do not sign up for SLD, after the June 21 expiration of the spring special, run the risk of a warrant being issued for their arrest.

“There is no time limit to how far back we will go. There are a lot of people who owe time that has been on the books for a decade or more,” Undersheriff Ben Woods stated in the release.

“We have a (jail cell) we’re keeping open” for those who do not participate in the spring offer for SLD, Lake County Sheriff Don Bell said.
