Pirates, Lady Pirates excel at Sapphire, C-Falls

Polson High School runner Bea Frissell captured the 1,600-meter dash recording a time of 5 minutes, 22.48 seconds in the Saphhire Invitaitonal. Frissell proceeded to win the 3,200-meter dash with a time of 11 minutes, 49.65 seconds. Lady Pirates’ teammates Molly Sitter and Naima Crowl were behind her. Sitter recorded a time of 12 minutes, 10.63 seconds to finish second and Crowl finished third with a time of 12 minutes, 23.97 seconds.

Lady Pirates’ distance runner Gwen Seeley’s performance made a declarative statement at the Columbia Falls Iceburg Invitational Saturday at Columbia Falls High School.

Seeley captured two first-place finishes in both the 800-meter run at the junior varsity level and the 1,600-meter run at the varsity level. Seeley recorded a time of 2 minutes, 44.50 seconds in the 800-meter run and 6 minutes, 6.09 seconds in the 1,600 junior varsity level.

In the 4X100 relay, the team of MaryGold Houk, Shaeley Brown, Shayla Olson and Mikaela DuCharme finished fourth with a time of 56.13 seconds. The Lady Pirates’ relay team excelled in the 4X400 relay with DuCharme, Sitter, Taylor, Frissell and Cochran finishing in fifth place with a time of 4 minutes, 39.60 seconds.

Gwen Seeley finished fifth in the 3,200 run with a time of 13 minutes, 7.90 seconds.

Mikaela DuCharme PRed in the Sapphire Invitational in eighth place with a triple jump of 33 feet, 10.50 inches.

Lanier, Stewart excel at CFHS

Throughout the last couple of years Polson High School has become known for their distance running.

The Pirates have another competitor emerging as one of the top-tier runners and Quin Stewart’s talent was on full display at the Columbia Falls Iceburg Invitational.

Stewart showcased his speed when he captured first in the 400-meter dash recording a time of 54.40 seconds, a personal record.

Stewart was also a member of a 4X400 relay team that placed fifth at the event with a time of 3 minutes, 51.6 seconds. Stewart teamed up with Dugan Davis, Alex Wall-Wilbert and Connor Lanier in the event.

The Pirates also finished fifth in the 4X100 relay with Druyvestein, Cote, Davis and Alex Wall-Wilbert accumulating a time of 40.20 seconds.

Lanier placed second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.21 seconds, the long jump with a time of 19 feet, 2.75 inches, third in the triple jump leaping to 39 feet, 2 inches and was a part of a 4X400 relay team that placed in the top-five.

Dugan Davis, Quin Stewart, Alex Wall-Wilbert and Lanier recorded a time of 3 minutes, 51. 6 seconds en route to a fifth-place finish.
