Scarlets have new coach; Mission returns four starters

The 2018-19 rendition of the Arlee Scarlets have to be rated as within the scope of a reloading phase given that the lion’s share of their offensive firepower returns along with further infusion from the transfer of Louetta Conko-Camel.

Arlee has a new coach at the helm in Melissa Tiensvold, who takes over the reins of the program from her predecessor Bill Stockton.

The Scarlets ought to be considered a viable contender to make the postseason, assuming they remain healthy and continue to refine the fundamental aspects that underlie their capabilities. Their season opens in Havre at the Native American Classic this weekend.

Mission Lady Bulldogs

The 2018-19 rendition of the Mission Lady Bulldogs only graduated one significant contributor to their offense last season, which means they will be able to reload with more seasoned returnees than has been the case in recent memory.

The roster is laden with multi-sport athletes with cross-disciplinary credentials, an encouraging trend that bodes well for bolstering hardcourt competitiveness.

The Lady Bulldogs put together eight games last season in which they scored 40 points or better.

If they can harness a measure of consistency on the offense end and squeeze their opponents a little harder on defense, Mission could see an exponential jump in their win-loss record this season.

The team opens against Stillwater in Kalispell.
