Laughter, music and chatter filled the Leon Community Center in Charlo Saturday evening.

About 100 people attended the annual Valentine Party, sponsored by the Ninepipe Arts Group.

More than 80 items were up for auction, where proceeds benefit local art-infused opportunities for children in the greater Charlo area.

As the evening progressed, people danced to the sounds of KC and the Valley Cats, of the Mission Valley.

Caroline Myhre, president of NAG, said that it was undetermined as of Tuesday morning how much money was raised.

Valentine’s Day-themed centerpieces were made by art students from Charlo, which has become one of the staples for the event.

“It’s been a tradition now that we’ve been doing for years,” Myhre said. Whatever the students are assigned to create, the final products are “just so perfect.”

NAG is an all-volunteer, nonprofit that works to support art and culture in the Mission Valley.

While students are usually from Charlo, St. Ignatius children benefit from the program, and Myhre said that in the near future, a relationship with Arlee is to be anticipated.

Taking students to art shows, theater and offering scholarships are some of the projects that NAG does for the community.

“Those are the things that are important to us… The little things,” Myhre said.
