The weekend storm that blew through the county didn’t pack quite the punch that was originally projected.

“This storm was not as severe as potentially indicated,” remarked Jay Garrick, road and bridge supervisor of Lake County stated by email Tuesday morning.

A foot of snow along with dangerous wind chills and drifts were predicted late last week, causing Garrick and county officials to warn county residents that plow trucks would not be out on Saturday, but instead on Sunday and Monday during daylight hours.

Garrick said the hardest-hit areas were from St. Ignatius to Big Fork, where areas of blowing and drifting snow were widespread, “especially south and west of Polson.”

There were 13 trucks out on Sunday and Monday, treating roadways.

Garrick said that approximately 1,000 miles of county road were treated by the department.
