Body of missing Polson man recovered

The body of a missing Polson man was found Tuesday afternoon, his mother confirmed.
Kyle Butterhof, 26, went missing Friday, Feb. 23, according to his mother Cindy Bellick.
According to Lake County Sheriff Don Bell, at 1:23 p.m. on Tuesday, Butterhof’s body was located on the cliffside below SKQ Dam observation lookout, by Two Bear Air.
No foul play is suspected and the cause and manner of death are pending further investigation.
Bell said that Butterhof’s remains will be transported to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula for an autopsy.
Using social media to try to find him prior to Tuesday, Bellick said that Butterhof had Asperger’s Syndrome and was “high functioning.”
She also confirmed that Butterhof was “suicidal” when he was last seen.
Bell confirmed Monday that Butterhof’s car was discovered parked at SKQ Dam just outside Polson over the weekend. To help with search efforts in the area, he called Lake County Search and Rescue.
Bell released a statement Tuesday morning, explaining that first responders were canvassing houses as well as talking with motorists in the area, asking if anyone saw Butterhof in the time leading up to his disappearance.
Officials were “checking into getting” search dogs as well as assistance from Two Bear Air, Bell said.
Snowmobiles and four drones were utilized in the search for Butterhof.
