Ronan Chiefs wrestlers get ready for Lewistown Duals
Ronan High School wrestling coach Dylan Kramer is on the cusp of being able to compete for hardware in what will be a talent-rich Class A state wrestling tournament that will happen Feb 9-10 at Billings Arena.
Kramer’s Chiefs really made a significant amount of progress Saturday at the Rocky Mountain Classic in Missoula.
Kramer had several wrestlers excel in the tournament and he said he felt that will be indicative of the direction his team will be headed with three weeks left prior to a grand finale at Class A.
Kramer stated his wrestlers’ contributions wouldn’t necessarily show up in the stat sheet in the newspaper.
“This weekend, you won’t see our contributions in the stat sheet in the newspaper and we weren’t all that impressive unless you were watching the game.” Kramer said. “Our kids really competed hard throughout the tournament and this was a valuable learning experience. Coming towards the state tournament, it will be hard to say how things will play out but I feel we will be in contention to win hardware.”
Kramer isn’t the type of coach to single out any of his talented lineup of wrestlers he will have as they prepare to head into the Class A Duals, a dual tournament that will feature every single team in Class A. He said he felt every member of his team is making progress with essentially three weeks left in the season.
“It’s hard to pick out just one wrestler but I would like to talk about all of our wrestlers,” Kramer said. “All of our wrestlers have bought in and they are doing everything they need to in order to succeed. One or two of our wrestlers are doing things that we didn’t quite expect of them and have really stepped up and become a leader. When you have one or two competitors going hard, everyone else feeds off of that.”
Kramer said the Lewistown Duals would be able to give his team a solid gauge on where they are at.
“I think this is kind of the last big hurrah before Divisionals,” Kramer said. “There are only three weeks before the big tournament and time goes fast. This is the last big tournament of the year before State and Divisionals.”
