The Mission Valley Mariners split the two-game, rain-shortened series Saturday at Mission Valley Mariners’ Stadium.

The M’s A team dropped a game to the Missoula Pioneers 5-3 and then defeated the Dillon Cubs 8-0 in their two-game round robin tournament.

Friday’s consistent downpour forced the M’s to play both of their round-robin games on Saturday. The tournament, formally known as the Firecracker Tournament, was cut short because there were several teams that pulled out of the original Firecracker Tournament at the last minute.

The Mission Valley Mariners’ ‘A’ squad didn’t have trouble generating early run production but the Pioneers were able to weather an early 2-0 lead to win the game 5-3.

Dylan Wisniewski generated the only RBI for the game for the M’s in the two-run loss and Xavier Fisher highlighted the M’s offensive production with a three-hit performance.
