Auction Under the Big Top
A hot, sunny day formed the backdrop for the annual three-ring Amish Auction held to benefit the Mission Valley Amish Schools.
Throughout the day hundreds of potential buyers came and went as the action continued non-stop. After beginning with one stage promptly at 9 a.m. to sell consignment items, a second stage followed with a second set of auctioneers. Soon a third stage was up and running to sell a flatbed overflowing with potted flowers.
At 11 a.m., one set of auctioneers moved under a big tent to begin the sale of hundreds of handmade quilts while another moved under a separate tent to auction off a myriad of furniture and wood art pieces. After a “break” from selling furniture to auction off cabins and a beautiful cedar house shell, the action moved back under the tent where several tables full of guns were offered to bidders. The guns ranged from collectible antiques to new weapons and were bought up by numerous gun enthusiasts.
The auction sped up as the day wound down with all three rings continuing until around 5 p.m. Successful bidders made their ways home with various and sundry items and gleeful grins on their satisfied faces.
