Cherry Festival Quilt Show winners announced Thursday
Quilting is a popular hobby in the Mission Valley, and some of the best handmade projects have surfaced during the 10th annual Cherry Festival Quilt Show in Polson. The show is sponsored by All In Stitches, the downtown quilt shop.
There are six entries in this year’s show, according to organizer Susan Brown. Three items are on display through July 18 at All In Stitches, including a quilt, skirt and table runner. Crow’s Nest Gallery, 219 Main and Navigator Travel have one quilt each on display. All four businesses are downtown on Main Street.
“There are area quilters wanting to participate,” Brown said, and the show sort of kicks off the Cherry Festival in Polson each year. Anyone can pick up a ballot at All In Stitches, then check out all six entries before voting for their favorite. The returned ballots are tallied Thursday, July 19, and the top three entrants receive a gift certificate from All In Stitches.
Brown has been manager of All In Stitches for six years. Pat Binger is the store owner, having opened the business 18 years ago, in 2000.
THE MISSION VALLEY Quilters Guild meets once a month, and members are preparing for their 27th annual quilt show. It will be held July 27 and 28 in Ronan, at K. William Harvey Elementary School. This year’s theme is “Dresden Fireworks.” Tickets for a quilt and a fat quarter basket raffles are now on sale at All In Stitches, and can be purchased during the show. The winning ticket will be drawn around 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 28.
Brown said proceeds from the raffles go toward providing quilts for fire victims. They have always been the benefactors of quilt show raffles.
