In reference to Dr. McClellan's July 12 'Column'

Upon reading the headlines of the letters submitted to the “Letters to the Editor” page, I was surprised that both were about the irrigation project, which included one from “columnist” Bob McClellan.

I read Dr. McClellan’s “columns” to find out what is the current Fabian socialist, err, progressive thinking these days. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised that one paragraph was devoted to solving irrigation problems and seven to analyzing the President’s “psychological” problems.

According to “psychiatrists” Dr. McClellan, our duly elected president is diagnosed with “narcissistic personality disorder (NDP).” That assertion could be made of all who have sought that high office – who in their right mind would want the tribulations of the presidency of the United States, the brashness and occasional hyperbole,

President Trump hasn’t exhibited any more “narcissism” than his predecessor. Thus far, at least, he hasn’t acted unconstitutionally, and he has done, or at least attempted to do what he told us he planned to do as chief executive of this waning republic. That sir, is more than I can say about his predecessor, whom you seemingly admired (at least that’s what I’ve gleamed from your past pontifications).

And, yes, we are in part a “democracy, not a dictatorship.” At least that is so on the local level, state and congressional level. There are a number of nations that claim to be “Democratic Republics,” which are neither “democracies” or really “republics.” Pure democracies easily morph into dictatorships.

We are a republic with democratic underpinnings. “We the People” are the sovereigns, not the government, which is supposed to be our fiduciary. I do agree with Dr. McClellan that the legislatures should take charge. These haven’t in a very long time. The administrate state has. And the judiciary is not a democracy and should avoid trying to be one.
