Pirates, Lady Pirates named to All-State and All-Conference teams
All season, Polson High School had several performers that were in the top five at the track and were named to the All-State team.
The Polson track team was able to name eight participants to the all-state team and that includes three competitors that captured first-place titles in their events at state.
Over the last few years, the Pirates and Lady Pirates have become known for having great distance runners with a top-tier cross country team for both the boys and girls.
The success of the Pirates, Lady Pirates’ cross country team translated well in the distance events. Bea Frissell captured a first-place finish in both the 1,600 and 3,200-meter.
Frissell finished first in six events in the 1,600-meter all season long and in the 3,200-meter she finished first in five different events. Frissell clocked in one of her personal record times of 11 minutes, 23.92 seconds capturing first in the finals and all-state honors.
Quin Stewart began to peak at the optimal time of the year, improving his time significantly from the start of the year. At the beginning of the season, Stewart recorded times of 2 minutes, 14.9 seconds at Gene Hughes, 2 minutes, 10.07 seconds at the Kalispell Mini-Invite, 2 minutes, 8.43 seconds at the Saphhire Twilight Invitational and 2 minutes, 4.09 seconds at the Lake County track meet.
The Lake County track meet was the last time Stewart recorded a time over the two minute mark. At the Western Divisional, Stewart recorded a time of 1 minute, 58.33 seconds, then a personal record.
Stewart wasn’t finished.
Stewart finished first in the 800-meter run with a time of 1 minute, 59.39 seconds.
