Polson raid leads to five arrests

Five people were arrested on drug charges Thursday, May 31, following a month-long investigation by local law enforcement.

According to Polson Police Department Sgt. George Simpson, charges range from criminal possession of dangerous drugs, criminal child endangerment, criminal possession of drug paraphernalia and five outstanding unrelated warrants.

Names of those arrested were not disclosed, Simpson said.

While two small children do reside in one of the homes, they were not present at the time the warrants were served. “The children are currently in a safe environment,” Simpson confirmed. Montana Child Protective Services are also involved.

The investigation began following information from community members, which then resulted in three residential search warrants that were executed in various parts of the city, Simpson said.

During the warrant service, multiple items including methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were seized.

Flathead Tribal Police assisted in the investigation, and Simpson added that the community “really stepped up and provided” the department with information.

The department began conducting investigations and unannounced raids late last year where children live with the goal to put the youth in a safer environment.
