Pizza and peeling party held in Ronan
It was a pizza and peeling party in Ronan last week in the yard of one local business.
About 10 Ronan High School students and members of the grassroots group Restore the Ronan Arch on Monday, June 4, met at the Access Montana maintenance yard in Ronan to eat pizza and peel the logs that will be used to restore the arch on Main Street, Chief Operating Officer of Access Montana Jay Preston said.
Organizers of the effort have raised about $15,000.
The arch was built in 2002 as a senior project from students at Ronan High School, overseen by then-advisor David Edington.
Preston said that there is “a time constraint” to change the wood out, but an opinion of a structural engineer says there is a window of a year left on the arch.
