The Ronan Chamber of Commerce is trying something new this year in regards to recognizing outstanding citizens.

Board member Gypsy Ray said that during the chamber’s recent annual planning meeting, the members decided to replace one regular monthly meeting with an awards banquet, which will fall on April 6.

“It was an evening event (prior),” she said, adding that last year, there wasn’t enough interest from chamber members to attend the ceremony.

This year, she said, chamber board members looked at how to make the event more successful.

There will be five awards passed out on April 6, including: citizen of the year, volunteer of the year, chamber ambassador of the year, teacher of the year and business of the year.

The chamber will be seeking nominations, beginning today, March 1, through March 16. All nominators have to do, Ray said, is simply email the vote to secretary@ronanchamber.com.

For more information on this year’s awards banquet, which will be held at Allentown Restaurant, 69286 U.S. Highway 93, Charlo, contact the Ronan Chamber of Commerce at (406) 676-8300.
