Donald Henry Herak
Donald Henry Herak was born in 1923 in St. Ignatius, Montana and grew up on the family homestead near Charlo with his beloved parents and siblings Nick, George, Mary and John. They were a close-knit family who shared the hardship of millions of Americans during the Depression.
He married his wife, Carol, in 1944 and she preceded him in death in 1998.
Don was an engineer at Boeing and Hungry Horse Dam, ultimately moving to Spokane and affiliating first with the Portland Cement Association, and later Acme Co. as chief executive officer. He was past president of the AGC and Gonzaga University’s board of directors, and an avid supporter of Gonzaga basketball.
Preceded in death by his oldest daughter, he is survived by his son and daughter, three grandsons and relatives far and wide. Don cherished relationships with family and friends, relatives, the AGC and construction trade unions, and the opportunity to serve the Diocese, Gonzaga, and the community.
