Mission sends several Bulldogs, Lady Bulldogs to state
Mission High School senior Karolyna Buck qualified for the Montana High School Activities Association Class A and B track meet May 25-26 at Laurel High School by finishing in the top-six in three individual events and two team events.
Buck finished third in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2 minutes, 36.74 seconds, fifth in the 1,600-meter run with a personal record time of 5 minutes, 55.56 and first in the high jump leaping to a distance of 4 feet, 10 inches.
Buck was also a member of the 4X100 relay team that finished third with a time of 54.56 seconds. The team consisted of Afton Brander, Hunter Eichert, and Sydney Brander.
Afton Brander qualified for state in three individual events at Divisionals. Brander finished first in the long jump recording a distance of 16 feet, 5 inches, sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 32 feet, 3 inches and fourth in high jump clearing a distance of 4 feet, 8 inches.
Afton Brander’s sister, Sydney Brander, finished third in the triple jump with a personal record distance of 33 feet, 5 inches and fifth in long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 7.5 inches.
Leila Marsh also qualified for State with her performance in the javelin where she threw for 95 feet, 1 inch.
Bulldogs send several to State
The Mission High School boys track team had several individual standouts at the Western B Divisional Meet Thursday and Friday afternoon at Frenchtown High School.
The 4X100 relay team consisting of Darius Redstar, Austin Elverud, Trance Bird and Flint McPherson, qualified for state recording a time of 47.05 seconds for a sixth-place finish.
All season, Michael Durglo has made a name for himself in the throwing events and at Divisionals he made no exception.
Durglo finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 44 feet, 10 inches and finished fourth in discus qualifying for the State meet with a throw of 124 feet, 11 inches.
