Libby logs 54-14 win over Ronan

At Ronan, the host Chiefs scored twice to hold a slight edge through the first frame, but thereafter the visiting Libby Loggers got their offense on track as they added a bookend to Ronan’s tally, then reeled off a half dozen to take over the lead on the way to a 54-14 Class A win.

Justin Mays scored twice on short yardage runs, while Brant Heiner was successful on both PATs.

Ronan hosts Browning in their regular schedule finale for Senior Night on Friday at 7 p.m.

Warriors roll past

Victor, 60-14

At Arlee on Senior Night in Western C 8-man football, seasoned seniors shined on the evening set aside in their honor during a 60-14 victory over Victor. The Warriors led 24-6 after one quarter and were in command 40-14 at halftime. Arlee blanked the Pirates 20-0 in the second half.

Quarterback Lane Schall connected for two strikes and a quartet of conversions while rushing for another score. Lane Johnson caught a touchdown pass, returned an interception and caught two conversions.

Chase Gardner caught a pass for a score, returned a punt for six and reeled in a conversion.

Colt Crawford was on a roll as he rumbled for a pair of sixes, while Nate Coulson wrapped up the scoring with the final TD of the evening.

The Warriors travel to face Clark Fork on Thursday in their regular-schedule finale. Game time is 7 p.m.

Charlo forfeits

game to Darby

Lake County Leader

Darby picked up a forfeit win over Charlo this week in Class C 8-man football, so Friday’s game was not played.

The Vikings forfeited the game due to lack of enough players on account of extenuating circumstances.

The Darby team has its own separate issue going on. Members are mourning the loss of former player Jake Sanders, who passed away after a year battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

Charlo intends to field a “reduced roster squad” for the Vikings’ regular-season finale on the road Friday night against Seeley-Swan, barring further injury or illness. They will be awaiting how the seeding pans out in the playoffs.

Flint Creek, the top team in Charlo’s conference and the Drummond-Philipsburg co-op, has secured the top spot. With an earlier win over Arlee, the Vikings will most likely have the No. 2 seed and get a home game in the first round of the Class C 8-man playoffs. The championship game will be held in Butte year, the first time a Class C 8-man title game will be played at a neutral site.

The Vikings, and their coaching staff — which have experienced several playoff scenarios over the years — has expressed in several interviews with The Leader, the significance of having home playoff games in the MHSA Class C 8-man format.

Seeley Swan, the team the Vikings will play in their season-finale, has a 3-5 overall record, and is coming off a 66-24 victory against Troy, a team in last place in the conference.

The Vikings, a playoff-bound team, currently has a record of 6-2, and will try to carry momentum into the playoffs.

Creek tops Mission

The visiting Mission Bulldogs matched the undefeated and defending state C champion Flint Creek (Drummond-Philipsburg co-op) Titans touchdown for touchdown in the early going last Friday, although Flint Creek executed three of four conversions to maintain a slight edge. However, the Titans scored five times in the last three quarters while shutting Mission out in the second half.

Quarterback Kolten Gardipee connected with three passes for scores for Mission, while Layne Spidel returned a kickoff to the house for six.
