Junkin' the Jocko
Inside the Arlee Brown Building was excitement earlier this month as community members showed off the structure during an openhouse.
Held during Junkin’ the Jocko on Saturday, Oct. 13, members of the Brown Building Committee welcomed visitors, displaying updates to the building, built in 1906.
Over the summer, vandals made their way into the building, defacing inside, committee secretary Paula Wofford said.
“We just put new flooring in… The bathrooms have all been painted,” committee member Lolita Hendrickson added.
Ten members make up the Brown Building Committee, which hosts two fundraisers each year to help raise money that goes toward maintaining the building.
On Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., the committee will partner with the Hangin’ Art Gallery for the annual Arlee Bazaar, while in the spring a yard sale will be hosted.
Hendrickson and Wofford also said that the building is available to host memorials, various meetings and even funerals.
