Polson soccer teams turn back Bigfork
At Whitefish last Tuesday, the Polson Lady Pirates hung with their hosts stride for stride through the first quarter of play, but thereafter someone let the dawgs out as the Lady Bulldogs blistered the net to hand Polson its second conference loss by an 8-2 final. Whitefish led 4-1 at the intermission, and added four second-half goals. Sophia Moderie and Ashlee Howell scored goals for the Lady Pirates off assists from Lilly Armstrong, while Kallie Finkbeiner defended the net.

BOYS SOCCER
Whitefish 5, Polson 0
At Whitefish on Tuesday, the host Bulldogs dispatched the Polson boys in a skirmish between two teams entering the contest with unblemished records.
Some early chances eluded the Pirates, while the Bulldogs would capitalize upon theirs. Polson came close to carving into the then two-goal deficit two minutes into the second half when Bridger Wenzel launched a promising long-range salvo toward the vicinity of the net, but its trajectory veered just left of finding net.
During the waning minutes of the contest, in the 77th minute, Mack Moderie was fouled in the box and awarded a penalty kick, but his attempt would ricochet off the crossbar.
The idiomatic expression, “Every dog has its day,” favored the Bulldogs this time around, but the Pirates will aim to flip the script when these two teams clash again early in the first week of October.
