Tribal Health offers new walk-in hours, clinics
ST. IGNATIUS — Tribal Health (TH) is working in the community to provide more access to health care for Tribal Health recipients.
Recently, TH signed an agreement to provide direct health care for Two Eagle River School (TERS) students, and the students’ families, at the TH Salish Kootenai College Health Center (SKCHC).
Tribal Health services that are provided at Salish Kootenai College Health Center include:
- Limited acute care such as diagnosis and management of minor illness and injury
- Interval management of stable chronic illness
- Simple point-of-care diagnostic testing including urinalysis, pregnancy testing, strep screening, mono-spot, rapid flu, finger stick glucose monitoring, and tuberculosis testing
- Sent-out lab testing
- Physical exams for educational programs, wildland and U.S. Forest Service fire fighting, and well-adult and well-child examinations
- Immunizations
- Referrals to TH health care centers for services, including X-ray, physical therapy and other healthcare services provided at TH
“The Salish Kootenai College and Two Eagle River School communities are enriched by having more access to health care,” said Sandra Boham, president of Salish Kootenai College. “Having a Tribal Health Center on campus is another way that we are striving to meet student needs by supporting the health and wellbeing of those who are working hard to get their education.”
Additionally, TH will now be providing nursing staff directly in the TERS facility for two days each week.
Tribal Health nursing services provided at TERS will include:
- Health education and promotion
- Health and wellness prevention and intervention services
- Dental, audiology and optical screenings
- Referrals to TH health care centers for services including X-ray, physical therapy and other healthcare services provided at TH
