It was a sellout crowd for Bingo Blackout and Murder at the Drag Show, a unique event held last Saturday, March 30 at the KwaTaqNuk Resort and Casino banquet room in Polson. The event was co-sponsored by SAFE Harbor, based in Ronan, and the Salish Kootenai College Spirit of Many Colors organization.

The outreach event featured Bingo games all evening long. Between some of the Bingo games were performances during the “drag show.” A highlight of the evening was to have those attending solve the “murder mystery” and win special prizes. Peole at each table collaborated to answer questions such as in the game of Clue.

According to SAFE Harbor Executive Director Dana Grant, three tables came the closest to getting all the answers to the questions correct.

The emcee for the evening was Miss Jade, who grew up in Arlee and now lives in the Portland, Ore., area. There were performers from Missoula and Bozeman, going by stage names of Hex Shadow and Anita Shadow. Miss Juicy Bouvier was a Diana Ross lookalike who was “spot on” in dancing and lip synching “I’m Coming Out.” The emcee and performers were all volunteers for the event.

David Durgeloh, who is a teacher at Salish Kootenai College, was entertaing as the evening’s Bingo caller.

Those attending the outreach event came from as far as Great Falls.

According to SAFE Harbor, the festivities were a way to celebrate “the diversity of life.”

next event: plans developed for a May event

According to Grant, the next SAFE Harbor event is coming up in May. Details will be announced at a later date.
