Mission Valley competitors display top-tier ability at Dave Tripp Invite

Charlo High School sophomore Carlee Fryberger finished in the top-five in four events at the Dave Tripp Memorial Invitational Friday at Polson.

Fryberger, who is coming off a sensational freshman season, in which she qualified for several Montana High School Association events at the state track meet, made another declarative statement at the Tripp track meet, by capturing first in the 100-meter dash, the 100-meter hurdles, and placed in the top-five in two other meets including the 300-meter hurdles, and the triple jump.

Fryberger, who has become one of the Lady Vikings rising stars, over the past two seasons, highlighted a day that included several standout track performances by the Charlo Vikings, and Lady Vikings at the Tripp Memorial Invite.

The Dave Tripp Invite, is a track invite that features some of the best track teams in Western Montana Class C, gives athletes, such as Fryberger, and her Viking teammate Kaitlin Cox, an opportunity to showcase their abilities to the rest of the state.

Fryberger, and her Lady Viking teammates, certainly took advantage of this opportunity and capped the day with several top-five, and first-place finishes.

Fryberger captured first in the 100-meter dash, barely beating out Seeley-Swan’s Lily Mercer, by one point of a second. Fryberger’s time of 13.49 seconds was slightly better than Mercer’s time of 13.50 seconds.

Fryberger and Cox finished first, and second in the 100-meter hurdles. Fryberger’s time of 16.90 seconds, edged Cox with a time of 17.37 seconds. Allie Delaney finished fourth with a time of 17.65 seconds.

Fryberger, and Delaney, also had a top-five finish in the 300-meter hurdles. Fryberger finished third with a time of 50.25 seconds, and Delaney placed fourth with a time of 50.82 seconds.

Lady Vikings relay finishes strong at Tripp

The Charlo Lady Vikings 4X100 and 4X400 relay team placed in the top-five in both events.

The Lady Vikings won the 4X100 with a time of 53.67 seconds and finished third in the 4X400 with a time of 4 minutes, 44.75 seconds.

Cox finishes strong in jumping events

Kaitlin Cox had made her living on the volleyball court by being able to outjump the majority of her competition, despite being undersizedCox has continued to showcase her ability to leap at the Dave Tripp Memorial Invite Friday afternoon at Polson High School.

Cox won both the long jump, and triple jump events clearing a distance of 16 feet, 5 inches, and the triple jump with a range of 33 feet, 4 inches.

Hammond finishes strong in the pole vault

Charlo High School pole vaulter Tyrah Hammond finished fourth in the pole vault throwing a distance of 7 feet even. Kamryn Scully, of Deer Lodge, and Terra Bertsch, of Seeley-Swan, both tied each other in range placing first with throws of 9 feet, 6 inches.

Buck finishes strong in distance events

Mission High School distance-runner Karolyna Buck has built a reputation for becoming one of the Valley’s better distance runners in her classification.

Buck had two top-five finishes in the 800, and 1,600-meter run.

In the 800, Buck placed second and recorded a time of 2 minutes, 44.21 seconds.

Buck recorded a time of 6 minutes, 4.28 seconds, placing third in the 1,600-meter run.

Lammerding remains at the top of the podium in shot put

Arlee High School thrower Peyton Lammerding placed first, and second in the shot put, and discus events Friday at the Dave Tripp Memorial Invitational at Polson High School.

Lammerding placed first in the shot put recording a throw of 35 feet, 9 inches. Mission High School’s Addison Arlint also finished fourth with a throw of 30 feet, 7 inches.

Lammerding’s throw of 99 feet, 5 inches, was good enough for her to capture second in the discus.

Other performers that excelled at Tripp is Mission High School’s Afton Brander, who threw a distance of 4 feet, 6 inches, in the high jump.

Tyrah Hammond recorded a throw of 7 feet, in the pole vault.

Sydney Brander and Fryberger placed in the top-five in the triple jump. Brander recorded a distance of 33 feet, 3.25 inches, and Fryberger finished with a length of 31 feet, 7.50 inches.

Hammond, along with several other Mission Valley competitors look to continue to compete headed into the second half of the MHSA track season.
